Four generations on the riverbank
Riverview Cafe began in 1946 as an oyster bar tucked behind a little store with a single gas pump, right on the banks of the New River. Four generations later, the same family is still frying shrimp and baking pies seven days a week.
Owner Johnny Terwilliger started here in the sixth grade washing dishes and bought the place in 1987. The oysters still come out of Stump Sound and are still made the way they were the year the doors opened. From the back dining room, you can watch the river roll past with Camp Lejeune just across the water.
